School News – 2 February2026

Reporting an absence
When you report an absence it is important that you inform us what is wrong with your child. Please do not say “they are unwell”, we need to know their symptoms, so we can manage outbreaks of certain types of illness such as vomiting.

Supported Self Evaluation
Due to continued high levels of sickness our Supported Self Evaluation Visit from the CEC team has been cancelled and we will be informed of a new date soon.

Online Safety Supporting Parents and Carers with understanding online safety.   For in-person or online parent/carer sessions: Supporting Parents and Carers

For parents and carers themselves: Online Safety for Parents and Carers – we highly recommend linking this one from your school’s website!

Breakfast Club
We are proud of our Breakfast Club provision at Craigentinny and excited to be working in partnership with Ripple to offer extra activities during the club.  For now, with the weather being cold it will be art activities and as the weather improves some outdoor activities in the courtyard space.  Nicky from Ripple will also be talking to the children about what they would like to do.  At the moment, Nicky will be at Breakfast Club Mon-Thursday.

A reminder that Breakfast Club opens at 8am and the doors close at 8.30am and no need to prebook.

Class Coffee Mornings

We are looking forward to welcoming you into school for our class coffee mornings again this session. These relaxed gatherings are a lovely chance for you to hear directly from the children about what they have been learning, see some of their work, and enjoy a chat with your child about their learning with a cup of tea or coffee. Each class will host their own coffee morning, where pupils will share highlights of their learning. You might hear about a favourite topic, see a piece of work they are proud of, or hear about a range of areas of the curriculum. Two adults are welcome to attend for each pupil.

Here are the timings:

  • P1–P2: 9:15am
  • P3–P7: 9:00am
  • ESB: 11:10am
  • P6A, P6/7, P7A: 9.15am to 10.30am

Each coffee morning will last around 30 minutes. The dates for each class are:

06.02.26Sparrows and Robins
31.03.26P6A, P6/7, P7A
14.05.26P3B
03.06.26P1B
04.06.26P1A

We hope you will be able to join us — it means so much to the children to share their learning with you, and we always enjoy having families in school.
