Primary 7 – 2026

Primary 7 have welcomed Miss Fraser, the Leith Transition Teacher, to our classroom this term. She will be with us on Tuesdays, building relationships and getting to know us.

Miss Fraser had us tapping into our creative tech skills using the Sketchbook app. We were creating digital portraits of ourselves.

Before heading off to camp, we shared our papyrus paper making process with you. After they had time to dry fully, we were able to turn them into textured canvases for our art. Using felt tips or chalk pastels we added vibrant, colourful scarab beetles. The Scarab beetle was often found in Ancient Egyptian Tombs – a symbol of protection and rebirth.

We are so pleased with how they turned out!

We have also been mastering the technique of creating colour gradients. We explored blending and colour theory, using either oil pastels or watercolours to create our sunset backdrop.

Once these were dry, we carefully sketched and cut out intricate black card silhouettes.

The final display truly captures the landscape we were aiming for!

In numeracy, we have moved on from our focus on place value to exploring addition and subtraction. To start off, we have been using the empty number line strategy to map out and explain our thinking.

This is helping us to develop our mathematical confidence and really understand how we work out a calculation.
